Sam Warburton engages the enemy at the Newcastle Paintball Centre!

On a weekend which also saw fellow sportsman Stephen Taylor, of Newcastle F.C., visit the Newcastle Paintball Centre, rugby union’s Sam Warburton also picked up a marker and joined forces with Delta Force Paintball! The Cardiff-born flanker is currently playing for his home city, nicknamed the Blues, and has racked up over 90 caps for club and country; how would his paintballing skills match up alongside his rugby success?

As it happens, the Cardiff Blues visited Delta Force Paintball back in 2012 for a teambuilding session at their local centre, the Cardiff Paintball Centre in Pentrych and Sam was one of the 36-strong team who visited on that cold December day. It’s no wonder that these finely-tuned athletes take time out of their busy pre-season schedules to take part in adrenaline-packed paintballing – they understand the benefits that this sport can add to their own game. Problem-solving, teamwork and tactics all play a crucial role in bringing success for you and your comrades out on the battlefield, important attributes that can be used on the training field and during important matches!

Sam had clearly been paying attention to all the advice offered by our marshals and acting on his own sporting instincts. The fierce defences of Castle Wallenberg were no match for his team’s efficiency, whilst the nerve-shredding Dawn of the Dead mission proved to be a walkover! 10 missions later and a whole load of eliminations under his belt, Sam finished his Delta Force Paintball experience and is now raring to go for the new rugby union season and the first friendlies in August (against Exeter and Leicester respectively). We would welcome him back anytime!
