More about Luton

Luton is situated in the south of England, over 30 miles north of London. Home of the Luton Carnival, Luton Town FC, London Luton Airport and the University of Bedfordshire, Luton sees many visitors past through it’s boarders to visit the region daily.

The Luton Carnival is recognised as the largest one-day carnival in Europe, and 150,000 tourists visit the region for the outdoor excitement and carnival action. The electric atmosphere at the carnival is renowned throughout the UK and Europe, and is most famous for adopting the adventurous festival style from Trinidad and Tobago. The outdoor carnival concludes with a large street parade down the main streets of Luton.

A major boost for the Luton economy is the London Luton Airport, with hundreds-of-thousands of visitors landing daily. These visitors that pass through Luton can admire the natural beauty of the landscape, including plush green paddocks, various farms and wooded forests.

Luton Town FC is based at Kenilworth Road Stadium, and plays in the highly competitive League 1 Division in the 2007-08 season. Over 10,000 passionate supports flock to the stadium to watch the game action live in the outdoor stadium. Luton Town FC is renowned for their support of local footballers and proud local traditions.

Another primary tourist attraction within Luton is the Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, which boasts 600 acres of conservation parks and woodland playing home to over 2,500 animals. The favourite attractions amongst visitors include the lions, rhinos and elephants. These adventurous African animals are cared for in the Whipsnade Wild Animal Park for conservation reasons, and play an integral part in the repopulation of endangered species.
