More about Harrow

Harrow is a borough of London situated in the outer northwest. Known for its affluent housing and greenbelt areas of land the average housing price is close to £1,500,000. Its close proximity to London via train has made the area a highly sort after residence for rich young singles and families.

Queen Elizabeth the second visited the region in April 2004 to celebrate the boroughs 50th year, with its incorporation-taking place on the 4th of May 1954.

Other areas of Harrow however are reminiscent of lower grade housing with younger ethnic minority groups now making up over 60% of the overall population. Although the crime rate is notably lower than other outer areas of London, street crime still remains a problem in the borough.

Harrow is also home to the Harrow School, a leading independent school dedicated to educating boys aged from 13 to 18 years. Located on beautiful Harrow Hill the school has housed and educated some famous alumni most notably British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Harrow School is known for the strenuous and exciting sporting tradition Harrow Football, a cross between rugby and football. With few rules and often-violent tackling the game is played almost exclusively at the school and fierce rivalry now exists between the different houses.

Lords cricket ground annually hosts the Eton versus Harrow cricket match, the oldest fixture to be played at the ground with the first game taking place in 1805. With over 200 years of history the match is highly competitive with bragging rights to be held until the following year.

With many Londoners fed up with the rising costs and stress associated with living in capital city, more people are choosing the exciting and adventurous lifestyle of living in the borough of Harrow with its rugged woodlands, action-packed nightlife and friendly people.
