On Friday 2nd July, the McLaren Formula One team, including the current title leaders Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, took a break from their intensive training for a day of paintballing action at Delta Force Paintball in Effingham, Surrey. Officially it was meant to be a ‘Press Day’, a chance for the drivers and their team to bond with members of the press, however it was also billed as a fantastic opportunity for the two drivers to relax and recharge ahead of the busy schedule leading into this weekend’s Silverstone Grand Prix.

McLaren and members of the press do several bonding events a year but they had never been paintballing together before. The suggestion for paintballing came from Lewis Hamilton - we guess he was relishing the opportunity to have some time away from the track to embark on a different form of team-building with the McLaren crew. Everyone loved the day of outdoor adventure, and Lewis was quoted saying "I love paintballing. I really should do more stuff like it with my friends - it's so easy to organise." Lewis even brought his brother along who had a fantastic time and said that he wanted to come back as soon as possible.
